Boya Yan was born in a family of musicians. She began piano studies at the age of three and learned singing at the age of sixteen.

She has won more than twenty competition awards these years. She is currently a member of the International Music Education Society (ISME) and the Australian International Vocal Teachers Association (ANATS).

In 2011, she was admitted to Beijing Normal University with the first ranking. In 2015, she held a piano and voice solo recital in Beijing. In 2019, she held a voice solo recital in Melbourne.
