Rebecca Chambers has established herself as a prominent young concert artist. She appears regularly with the Australian Symphony Orchestras, and has performed on four continents. In recognition of her achievements in music, she was named as the 1996 Young Australian of the Year.

         

Ms Chambers graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in New York with a Masters Degree in music, studying with Phillip Kawin. Her undergraduate education was completed at Melbourne University’s Victorian College of the Arts studying with Ronald Farren-Price, and she was the recipient of the John Gaitskell Mensa Award for highest academic and performance achievement. She also studied with Michael Spivakovsky.

         

Rebecca commenced piano lessons with her mother at the age of three, and made her debut as concerto soloist with an orchestra four years later under the tutelage of Nehama Patkin. During her prodigious childhood, Rebecca received countless accolades and awards, appeared frequently on television and recorded for radio.

 

She performed as concerto soloist on over fifty occasions culminating with her winning the prestigious ABC Young Performers Awards. She also received the Associate Diploma of Music at age 12 and a Distinction for the Licentiate Diploma of Music.

 

During five years of residence in New York, Rebecca’s career continued to flourish, winning competitions and awards. She gave her Lincoln Center debut with the New York Symphonic Ensemble and performed regularly for the New York Philharmonic Children’s Promenades.

         

Rebecca has enjoyed her role as youth ambassador and motivational speaker, travelling throughout Australia speaking and performing to thousands of students with the aim of making classical music more accessible to young people.

 

In the United States, she was invited to the Australian Embassy in Washington D.C. to perform and speak on youth and women’s issues during International Women’s Week.

Rebecca’s multi-talented skills include Broadcast Journalism - she has presented, produced and edited numerous documentaries for television. Rebecca is also an accomplished ballroom dancer.

 

Rebecca completed a Naturopathy degree from the Australian College of Natural Medicine.(now Endeavour College)

Rebecca is the musical director of Pot Pourri, Australia’s leading musical theatre ensemble and performs throughout Australia and internationally.

 

Rebecca is the co founder and director of CHAMBERS MUSIC and KIDKO PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOL, with her husband and Co-Director, Greg McMaster.
